Photographer Allen Porter created the photographs and negatives in this collection while employed for Mesa State College or his personal photography business. Subjects of the photographs include faculty and staff at the college, construction projects, college groups, athletics and college royalty attendants. This collection also includes photographs relating to Grand Junction such as aerial photographs of the city and photos of Wayne Aspinall, including Aspinall’s second wedding in Washington, D.C. Items in the collection date from 1950-1976 but materials are predominantly from the 1960s and 1970s.

Historical Note

This collection contains photographs and negatives primarily relating to Mesa State College staff and students. It also features a limited number of items showing Grand Junction area businesses, aerial photographs, and Wayne Aspinall.

Arrangement

This collection is arranged into two series. The first includes photographs and negatives concerning Mesa State College and the second, entitled “Local Involvement”, features local businesses, photographs of Congressman Wayne Aspinall and aerial photographs of Grand Junction. Folders in each series are sorted by alphabetical order.
